The fairfield trust
The Fairfield Trust is a private Christian family trust that is privately funded. It is registered with Charities Services, # CC29491.
Ethical consumption is not an act of charity but of justice and personal integrity. In the Christian worldview, justice is not about retribution but about reconciliation and restoring things to the way they should be. The Trustees want to encourage the restoration of right relations between developing country producers and first world consumers by empowering producers, traders and consumers to make ethical choices which allow all people to enjoy and benefit from the work of their hands.
We are motivated by James 5:1-6 “Listen, you rich people who have hoarded wealth. Look! The wages you have failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived in luxury and self-indulgence. You have condemned and murdered innocent people who were not opposing you.” (abridged)
